Scottish Junior Chess Association Educational Trust - Closing Down - October 2021

The trustees have obtained the approval of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR) to close the trust, subject to transfer of the trust’s remaining assets (circa £4,900) to Chess Scotland, the formally recognised National Federation, whose constitution commits it to 'represent, organise and promote … chess … at national level in Scotland and internationally inclusive of all sections of society'.

The agreement of Chess Scotland has been obtained and approved by OSCR to use these monies to help fund future costs of the Glorney Gilbert International Junior Chess matches when next hosted in Scotland. The trust has frequently provided grants for this purpose for many years (most recently for the Glorney Gilbert events held in Paisley in 2018.

We thank all of those who have donated to the trust since its inception in 1969. Your donations have contributed greatly to the promotion of the trust's junior chess educational purposes over the years. In turn support from the Trust has been much appreciated by junior chess club organisers in schools and in the community, as well as the individual junior players who have benefitted, and their parents.
