UpdateSeven intrepid cyclists took part in this fundraising effort. Pedal for Junior ChessAny reasonably fit, chess-loving cyclists around? Do you want to raise money for junior chess? Then join me in the annual Glasgow-Edinburgh fun bike ride on Sunday 14th September 2008. I'm raising a team "The Chess Masters" for the Scottish Junior Chess Association (SJCA) Educational Trust. So far we have four adults including me and Mike Scott (another trustee) and four juniors in the team. Every fourth team entrant goes "free". Full details about the ride can be found at http://pedalforscotland.org/ All you need to do is send a cheque to me, made out to SJCA Educational Trust, to cover the entry fee: £16 per adult, concessions £9 - if you want to book the bike/person transport from Edinburgh to Glasgow or the return route, please also say and forward the relevant additional amount (£12 per person each way). I have to register all "team" entrants and I'll repay pro rata discounts when I know how many free fourth entrants we raise. After reaching Edinburgh, I'm going to give a simultaneous chess display for juniors, from 5.00pm to 7.30pm in Edinburgh Chess Club, who are kindly hosting this charity event for free. The location is 1 Alva Street, Edinburgh EH2 4PH. Numbers may be limited due to the venue size, so, in order to guarantee a place, anyone wishing to play should pre-register with me. I'll charge £5 per participating junior, with all income going to the Trust. Cheques made out to "SJCA Educational Trust" please, to my address (or pay on the night).
